Going with the flow

This week has been unusually windy in Seattle and in other parts of the country. On Monday, I couldn't even use an umbrella because the wind kept blowing it inside out, and it was futile anyway because the wind was blowing the rain up instead of down. Then on Tuesday my brother missed his flight home from Las Vegas due to 60 mph wind gusts! Now throw in a full moon tonight, Daylight Savings Time beginning on Sunday, and Spring Equinox the following Tuesday. There are a lot of external forces happening this month that can make us feel out of balance.

I also feel like I'm getting blown around in all directions in my life - between work, volunteering, family, friends, Marc's school, etc. it's hard to stay centered amidst all that's happening around me.

The theme of my yoga class yesterday was going with the flow. We did a multi-directional yoga sequence that had us facing the front, side and back of the room at different times during class. The point is to find yourself and your focus no matter which way you are turning or what you might be facing. We also worked on handstands and forearm balances - literally turning ourselves upside down. Sometimes it takes looking at something a new way (in this case flipping upside down) to gain insight or perspective into a situation.

This was our last class of the quarter since the students have final exams next week and then spring break. I was pleasantly surprised that they all signed a thank you card for me - so sweet! My favorite was the person who signed "Meow. It means Thanks! in kitty." She even drew a picture of a cat - ha ha, love it! I'm looking forward to teaching again next quarter :)
